Nelson and Area’s Learning in Retirement Society

“Laughter, curiosity and learning are fundamental to living well.”

Are you 50 or over? Have a curious mind?

Looking for new interests or learning new skills with a group of like-minded people?

LiR is a great place to meet new friends and have fun at the same time.

Come share knowledge, experience, and laughter as we move forward in this increasingly complex world.

Nelson and Area Learning in Retirement Society is a non-profit run by seniors for seniors, working in partnership with Community Education at Selkirk College to provide a diverse program of speakers, courses and activities for its members.

Who We Are

We offer our 50+ community the opportunity to explore old and new interests in a relaxed and stimulative learning environment. LiR, a volunteer not-for-profit organization, works in partnership with Community Education at Selkirk College to develop and provide a diverse program of speakers, courses and other activities for its members.

What We Do

Who’d have thought it… we all learned Zoom. A new way to learn, a new skill to learn, and a new way of connecting during the isolation of the pandemic.

Using Zoom, we were able to continue our Friday Presentations and Multi-session Courses – all with the help of Volunteer Co-hosts assisting both presenters and members.

September 2022 found us back in the classrooms and out in the community for our programs.
